The Traveling Luchador in Vietnam.

Had a wonderful time here in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Spent a week in the capital with the whole family, a great getaway. We did the usual tourist thing, visited the Cu Chi tunnels, a boat ride along the Mekong river delta, the food, Bánh mì, Phở, yummy... and I had a field day at Dan Sinh market, bought loads of communist era military memorabilia. I am a happy tourist!

The In-Fidel Restoration.

Here is the 'In-Fidel', a restoration project of an abandoned 70's chopper style bicycle that i did some time ago. A straight up restoration, paint stripping, sanding, refurbishing and spray-painting. Chose a cream coloured paint for the handle bar and fenders, and decided to go with a metallic vintage brown for the body. An endless fun riding this one.

Bigfatlucha's Abandoned Customs

Here is 'El Che', it was named after my cat, the love of my life, Che! Found abandoned next to a monsoon drain at a trailer park near Jalan Bahar, way back in 1997. This was love at first sight, the ape hanger handle bar was the coolest thing i have ever seen. Punctured tires, i was unable to ride it so i had to push it all the way home, and it was a really long push home! This was my very first vintage bicycle restoration project ever, this was the one that make me want to start Abandoned Customs, for the love and preservation of these vintage, forgotten and amazing bicycles.

The BigFatLucha story...

The Bigfatlucha is based on the ideals, the influences and the values that I live by. I am M.Nazrie aka The Bigfatlucha, a Renaissance man who spent more than a decade working for some of Singapore’s most iconic clubs, as a set designer and a visual prop artist for shows, events and festivals. I am also an avid collector of vintage paraphernalia, frequently scouring the world's flea markets searching for rare and unique pieces to add to my collection, ol'skool suitcases, portable record players , Raleigh Chopper bicycles, just to name a few. And selling them whenever i ran out of storage space.

The Bigfatlucha recognizes that vintage is another word for recycled, and strongly believes that re-using what already exists is one of the greenest ways to combine innovative design with conservation, thus making the world a better place for everyone. These are the things that I like and the things that i fell in love with. This is where I share my passion, my personal collections and my art with my fellow comrades, and hopefully getting paid while doing it.

In a city filled with danger, I stand in the shadows waiting for evil to rear it's ugly head and feel the power of my mighty noogie. I will kick them in the nuts and save the universe from ugly, villainous CEO's and depraved, atrocious managers! No more worries my fellow taxpayers, let me introduce myself to you... I am The BIGFATLUCHA!

Do make peace with your Gods little evil man... because you're next! I'm going to find your mom and I'm going to tell! EVIL is easy, being good... Kinda HARD!! Superheroes were never paid for their contributions to society but a Luchador needs to get paid for the superhero stuff! Join my cause, whatever you do, KEEP IT ANTI!!

Your Comandante en jefe,

The Bigfatlucha.

Bigfatlucha's Abandoned Customs

For someone who is fascinated with all things old, restoring and customising vintage bicycles is one of the things that I consider a hobby of mine. A complete restoration of these obsolete two wheelers are almost impossible, as original parts for the bikes are rarely available.

By combining brand new parts with vintage parts found at flea markets, bike shops, and from my trustworthy suppliers, i was able to do a minimal and decent restoration for these bicycles.

Some parts of the bikes are left as-is or un-restored for aesthetic reasons and for its originality. The hardest bit, is when I had to fabricate missing parts from scratch, just to make it work for the bicycle.

But of course the final result is satisfying, knowing that you won't find exactly the same combination in any other bicycle available out there, it makes the bicycle unique. I started Abandoned Customs for the love and the preservation of these beautiful iconic wheelies,  with a little custom!

Bigfatlucha's Abandoned Baggage.

Abandoned Baggage is the result of over a decade of collecting vintage suitcases. This personal collection of mine is not only about an attraction for retro design and the charm of old, it is very much about the future as well. Every time you buy a vintage item instead of newly manufactured ones, you are recycling. Bigfatlucha recognizes that vintage is another word for recycled, and believes that re-using what already exists is one of the greenest ways to combine innovative design with conservation, thus making the world a better place for everyone.
The time has come for me to practice re-circulation and sharing my love with the masses. These well-maintained, obsolete individuals are finally up for adoption. Make an environmentally-friendly choice today, adopt an Abandoned Baggage.

*Abandoned Baggage is no longer available, thank you so much for the overwhelming support! The Bigfatlucha says, " These are genuine vintage suitcases. They have survived decades, with much love and care, they will survive a whole lot more. These suitcases are perfect for stashing your uniform after that quick costume change in the ol' phone booth, a weekend at granma's, your paraphernalia storage needs, or as a decorative addition to your well assembled home.
Adopt these suitcases as a single child, or feel free to take home it's sibling as well to keep it company. Whatever you do, do keep it anti!"
